Great Southern National Bank Celebrates a Century of Excellent Community Banking

When a small group of far-sighted men from the tiny Clarke County Community of Quitman crowded around a desk in March 1902 and watched Mississippi Governor A. H. Longino place his signature on an historic Charter of Incorporation creating the Bank of Quitman, the idea of a Great Southern National Bank system with 14 offices serving a seven county area of east central and south Mississippi was not even a dream.
